Bio
Dark Natasha is an Australian American native of Colorado. She currently lives in the small town of Evergreen, Colorado among the scenic and tranquil mountains. Her name "Dark Natasha" is derived from an animated character she created while in high school. The ‘Dark' represents a subconscious – the place where all creativity is born.
Dark Natasha's creative style is expressed through a variety of media including acrylics, inks, colored pencils, water color, sculpting, and various paints. She has attended six different art colleges and has received numerous awards and recognition dating back to grammar school. Her work includes countless pieces ranging from fingernail sized graphics to full length wall murals, bite-sized ornaments to 300 pound sculptures. Since becoming self employed in 1998, Dark Natasha has specialized in anthropomorphic art, which is the art of giving animal figures a human-like personality. Some of her most popular characters include wolves, foxes, and dragons. Often she is inspired by fellow artists, wildlife, nature, music and the thought of creating a world with creatures that others can enjoy.
For many years now she has used the "nom d'art" of Dark Natasha. She has found it to be an intriguing way of capturing audience attention and maintaining a certain mystique. Her work resides in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and Britain. Art is her passion and she continues to expand her talents in as ever-widening spectrum. Dark Natasha enjoys sci-fi, animation, horror movies, warhammer miniatures, comics, and some video games. Horseback riding is a favorite pastime and a trip to the local Sushi Den restaurant with good friends is never passed up. At home she composes her work in a cozy studio surrounded with aquariums, plants, music (industrial and techno,) and her very demanding but affectionate parrot Monkey also known as the Cranky Canary. She has a passion for all wildlife and takes great pleasure for rescuing birds.
